I purchased this amp for my sister's whole house audio install through a recommendation from the AVS forums (great place for advice). For the main receiver we also got a Denon AVR-3312CI. The Crown XLS2500 was used to power the rest of the speakers in the house (i.e. "Zone 2") which I connected to impedance matching volume controls. In total there were 15 speakers (2 per room and one in the bathroom)and I set the volume control jumpers to "X8" which lowers the impedance at the amp (though this amp is 4 ohm stable).
I had the amp gain cranked up to about 1 below max to allow enough volume at the individual rooms. I was COMPLETELY blown away with how great it sounded! There was a serious amount of power to each speaker pair (which is more than she will ever need). I did a "smoke test" and put each speaker pair to about half volume (think of having to talk over the music)and let it run for about an hour. To my surprise the amp was not even warm! The Denon receiver on the other hand was getting to egg frying temps just by being turned on.
I never would have thought to use a DJ amp for a home theater install but this thing fit the bill and was MUCH cheaper than a comparable amp by Niles or the like. Another bonus was that it has RCA inputs (which is common for home / car audio) so I didn't need the 1/4" phono plug converters, it's light (about 11 lbs), small, and has banana plug speaker outs.
For those of you who are looking for an auxiliary amp for a home theater / whole house audio system this fits the bill.

I have 4 of these stacked in a case and can actually carry them by myself. The class d amp is amazing and the system performs wonderfully. Navigating the menus is simple. Can't go wrong.
